The end of summer approaching soon

Well as we wind down the end of summer (where does time go?) I am starting to look forward to the school bus arriving. At the beginning of this project in June I was not looking forward to dealing with two children constantly fighting every minute of every day, so I set out to have a fun summer and do things with the kids that I also enjoy doing. I have prevailed! Well to some extent...there were moments!

Swim class has officially ended for summer and soccer has begun. The kids had a very productive summer of swim. Ella has turned into a little fish. She swims with no problems and has really gotten much better on her back float in the last few months. Weston actually goes under water now and ENJOYS swimming. That was a huge task. It all stemmed from his swim instructor Nate who he seemed to bond with. West has also enjoyed jumping in the pool with me. He's gotten much braver.

Our last swim class was followed by our first soccer practice. The day was extremely hot and humid. Picture dressing too children in shin guards, those hot, long soccer socks, cleats, and outfits in a small dressing room outside. Oh vey!!! Plus I had a schedule to keep, so if I didn't do it in a timely manner we weren't going to make it to practice on time!! Luckily, Andy was early to practice and had everything set up and ready to go. I had to leave to take Andy's place at the soccer meeting right afterwards, so I missed watching the kids practice that day.

Last Monday we went to Southwicks zoo again. This time with Dianna, Adam, and Carly. It was fun still. The kids rode on the camel again and this time we rode on the "train" which Weston really wanted to do. No sky ride because Weston and Carly would be too small, but they did go on one ride each. We also got to see another one of the shows about birds, and turtles. It was interesting. This time though the deer were more scattered and scared. They didn't come right up for you. That part wasn't as fun. The goats on the other hand did eat out of our hands. Unfortunetly, I forgot to take the map out of Weston's hands before we went into the feeding area and they all crowded around him. He started screaming "Mommy, Mommy, pick me up". I did and then a few minutes later put him down. One of the goats snatched the map right out of his hand and ate it!!! LOL!

The rest of this week was a lot of errands and getting stuff done. We got Ella's physical done on Thursday and dropped some papers off to the school for them to get ready to start. School starts this Thursday. Yippee!!! Ella has orientation on Wed. Weston's is on Thursday. Today we are off to the Brooklyn Fair...Double Yippee!!! Andy is coming with us. I think this may be our first official family outing this year. It will be nice to all be together. Oh and Weston will see the tractors and animals while Ella will enjoy the rides!!!
